Lapsi (Sweet Broken Wheat Dessert)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup broken wheat (dalia)

  • 3 tbsp ghee

  • ¾ cup sugar or jaggery

  • 2½ cups water

  • 4–5 cardamom pods (powdered)

  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds/cashews)

  • 1 tbsp raisins (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Roast wheat: Heat ghee in a pan or pressure cooker. Add broken wheat and roast on medium heat until golden and aromatic.

  2. Cook: Add water carefully and cook covered (or pressure cook for 2 whistles) until the wheat becomes soft.

  3. Add sweetness: Add sugar or jaggery and mix well. Cook on low heat until it thickens.

  4. Flavor: Add cardamom powder, nuts, and raisins. Stir and cook for 2–3 minutes.

  5. Serve: Serve warm, garnished with extra nuts.
